I gotta tell you – I’m actually terrified of bees.
I knew I didn’t like them. But my deep phobia of them became apparent to me this weekend while I was sitting on our deck, enjoying the view of our backyard (and this, as a former Brooklynite, is living the dream!! A Backyard!!), and the biggest bumblebee kept whizzing by. Â A really. Big. Bee.
I mean, not just a bee. This one made you say Bumble Bee, it was that big.
Once I escaped and was safe inside….I couldn’t stop thinking about this song.
So, here it is! I learnt this as a little girl. And in the version I sang as a kid, there was a whole bunch of gross stuff involved like licking put the dead bee, etc.
Do not fret – I left that party out. 🙂 The closest we get to that is the smashing up of the baby bumble bee.
Anyhow – it’s a silly, fun song to sing. But warning: do not try to catch a bumble bee in your hands and bring it home. 🙂
