I hope your week is off to a great start.
I’m writing to you from Miami, FL! I’m down here attending a Gina Devee conference – something I’ve wanted to attend for a long time!
A combination of some much needed rest & relaxation along with inspiration and transformation – woohoo!
Meanwhile, I made this video for you! In keeping with the theme of reading for National Reading Month I made a sing & read along video of my song version of Llama Llama Red Pajama!
This song is one of the first I ever wrote. While I was teaching preschool we read this book every day – often twice a day- for months. And the more I read it, the more i heard a tune. I reached out to a friend of mine I knew from the musical theatre world, Doug Silver, and asked if he could help with getting this tune out of my head and onto the piano. The track you hear in this video – the same one I use in performance – is that very track from way back then in 2008.
It became my first “fan favorite” and one of the first things I attempted to record.
Due to copyrights and publisher agreements and such, I never got the permission to officially record it. I DID record it eventually with my band and made a music video of that one (you can find it HERE) and put it up on a non-monetized channel in tribute to Anna Dewdney right after she died.
But now that Ludacris and various other artists have gone on radio appearances to rap or sing their versions of the song, i figured it would be ok for me to put my sing-along version up on youtube. So voila – here it is!
If you’re not familiar with it, it’s a great book for talking about how “grown ups come back” as well as discussing big feelings and how to deal with them.
