I hope your week is off to a great start! I’m excited about the new video I created for you this week. I also have some October-y, Halloween-ish things to tell you about so be sure and read to the bottom!
I’m excited to share the video I made this week for the bilingual children’s book “Colores De La Vida” by Cynthia Weill from Cinco Puntos Press. It’s a simple color book illustrating colors and their Spanish and English names. And we sing it to the tune of Frerre Jacques/Are You Sleeping, Brother John?. (I got that idea from my daughter’s teacher!) Using that song and song structure allows for repetition of each color in both language. And as we know – kids THRIVE on repetition!
Press play to have some fun learning colors in both English & Spanish:
My friend, Ms. Margot (who was a guest on the Miss Nina Weekly Video Show early this year) has been doing some blogposts about counting over on her blog: Ms. Margot’s Early Learning Blog. And this week, she included a Miss Nina video: Five Little Pumpkins! You can check that out HERE.
The video on her blog is the very first version I did of that song on the video show. I did another one later on with some tap dancing (HERE). And eventually I recorded my rendition of it for my album Every Day’s Your Birthday (available over on my store page!) And a couple of years ago – with the help of many of you, my faithful viewers – we made a music video for that song. So I thought it’d be a good time to share that one again since it’s October and all! Here it is:
And last, but certainly not least! We had such a lovely time at the Midtown Global Market’s Wee Wednesday last week! It was so nice to meet so many Minneapolis friends – and I’m excited to announce that they are having me back. And I’ll get to celebrate Halloween with you! Yes, Wednesday, October 31st at 10:30 am they’ll be a craft, a little Halloween Parade and music with Miss Nina. If you’re in Minneapolis, be sure to come!
