The first official day of summer happens this weekend, so this week I have for you a silly summer song AND I get to kick off the season & Summer Reading with an OUTDOOR, IN PERSON SHOW IN WISCONSIN!!!

After such an intense time, my aim this summer is to relax, rejuvenate, have fun and be with the people I love. I’ve got a couple of projects I’m working on, but I am prioritizing getting outside and making the most of this summer! So, my aim is to supply you with summer songs and videos all season long that help you do the same! Songs about SUMMERTIME FUN! I definitely had some fun with the “dramatics” in this week’s video – LOL!

1, 2, 3, 4, 5 ONCE I CAUGHT A FISH ALIVE!
One of the things I love about this song is that it ends up being a conversation. So in this week’s video you’ll see I had some fun with a fish puppet and being both “voices” in the conversation. So, along with being a counting and numbers song, and song about fishing, it can be a great song for dramatization and talking about frustration and when things don’t go according to plan! (Miss Nina #2 has a good pout about it – your little ones might enjoy talking about how Miss Nina needs a better attitude! LOL!)
EARLY LEARNING CONCEPTS CHILDREN WILL GET FROM THIS VIDEO…
- NUMBER RECOGNITION & COUNTING: This song first and foremost lives in the category of “number songs”. We count all the way up to 10 in this one, and it’s a little different in pattern and rhythm then the usual number songs and rhymes, which makes it fun. In this video the numbers are on the screen so you can work on number identification, or work on fine motor skills and use your fingers to count along with me!
- FISH & OCEAN THEMES: It’s Summertime and this song is a great support of your summer, beach, ocean and/or fish theme! It’s a great circle time song and works to support so many summer themed children’s books.
- STORYTELLING & DRAMA: As you’ll see, one of my favorite things about this song is that it really is a bit of a story. You can start a learning about Beginning, Middle and End with your little ones and this song. You can also talk about feelings – identifying them and using creative drama to “show” and express different feelings (like I do in this video!)
