Happy Tuesday, everyone!
We’ve made it mid-February. Some of us are enjoying a little mid-winter/Presidents’ Day weekend break. This holiday weekend has me doing a little mini-tour! I had a wonderful time performing at the Fairfield Public Library in NJ on Saturday! Today (Tuesday) I’m excited and honored to have the opportunity to entertain the patients at the AI DuPont Children’s Hospital in Wilmington, DE – and tomorrow (Wednesday) I’ll be at the Corbitt-Calloway Memorial Library in Odessa, DE with a show at 11 am!
I really love performing at libraries because, along with my LOVE of dancing and getting everyone up and moving with me – I really enjoy putting books to music. Any interaction with a book that a young child can have is good and a pre-reading activity that helps them gain literacy skills. Even if they’re not looking at the words yet – getting acclimated with which direction we turn the pages, and in what order the pictures go are valuable skills.
And so, you know that if I love putting kids books to music, I clearly LOVE children’s books. There are many authors and countless books the I adore. But I do sincerely feel that the King of all children books is: Dr. Seuss.
The rhymes! The creativity! The silliness! He was a genius.
And guess what? His birthday is coming up on March 2nd.
My daughter’s school celebrates his birthday all week long with a whole bunch of silliness like Pajama Day, and Backwards day, etc. Piper can hardly wait!
So, today I wanted to share with you a little song and video I created last year called, “Dr. Seuss, You Silly Goose!” to get an early jump on celebrating Dr. Seuss, his birthday and all he’s written for kids and the kid in all of us!
Say “Ho” and “Hey” with me, dance and jump around – and perhaps even pick out which Dr. Seuss book you’d like to read together next.
And I’d love to hear how you and your little one(s) celebrate Dr. Seuss – reading? Dancing to this song? Crafting? Take a photo or a video and share over on my Facebook Page or in the comments below.
Enjoy the video and your week and I hope to see you soon!
xoxo
