You know, I was just a little bit too old for Raffi when he hit the children’s scene back in the 80s. It’s only since I’ve been teaching that I’ve come to know who he is, his songs and his advocacy for children.
So, now he’s my hero.
A few years ago I had a little girl request this song, and at the time I did not know it at all. Now, her little sister is in my class for the first time and I FINALLY have learned it!
Although its a story song, and you can now buy the book to go with it, today we just use our imaginations to picture the story.(Which is always a great exercise.)
