READY FOR ANOTHER WEEK?!
Yeah…..last week was a doozy here in the USA. You don’t need me to go into it or recap it for you, I’m sure. That’s not what you come to me for! But, like, Holy Cow, I’m exhausted! I’m sure you are too. Whether from balancing the news cycle while trying to teach eager little ones back from holiday break, or from trying to get organized and implement new systems (New Year! New Planners! LoL!) or just from, well, continuing to live through the Global Pandemic – it’s exhausting.
On the days when I’m so tired, I take it one minute at a time, step by step. And I just try and get present to the moment. It’s the best thing I can do for my daughter and my students. The energy I need is there, in the moment, with those people. And one of the best way to get in the moment WITH little ones (they are ALWAYS in the moment, themselves! Right?!) is movement! So, I’ve got another fun winter video for this week to do just that.
THIS WEEK’S VIDEO IS…
This week I’ve got for you a perfect Winter Snowman Rhyme for Preschool. it is a rhyme and fingerplay. And much like last week’s video, I’m A Little Snowman, this week’s has a fun surprise ending that the kiddos love. It involves a snowman and…. a bunny! I teach the motions, and then we do it three times together. Lyrics are on the screen in the video.
EARLY LEARNING CONCEPTS CHILDREN WILL GET FROM THIS WINTER SNOWMAN RHYME VIDEO…
- Rhythm! This rhyme has a real solid rhythm to it which aids in learning the words and motions. And it can be a fun one to get out the Rhythm Sticks for!
- Fine & Gross Motor Skills! There is a motion for each line of the song – keeping it simple to learn, but with enough motions to keep the little ones engaged. You can do this one sitting and doing just the arm and hand motions, or you can stand up to BE the snowman and to HOP like bunnies.
- Storytelling! I love this rhyme because it tells a quick story. There are do characters, the bunny has a “problem” and finds a “solution” that makes the kids giggle. If you are working on story elements at all, you can talk about beginning, middle and end, problems and solutions, or even get creative and come up with alternate endings!

MORE FUN TO COME….
I’ve got some fun things to come in 2021 – including an album of NEW MISS NINA MUSIC!
But I’m really interested in WHAT YOU WANT! I’ll be sending out a survey soon to get a feel for WHAT YOU WANT FROM MISS NINA, so I can get to creating it for you. Keep an eye on your inbox. And be sure and follow me on Instagram and Facebook as well!
ENJOY this week’s video! Feel free to use at home, in your classes and daycares, and SHARE!
XOXO
Miss Nina
P.S. Did you know that I offer a monthly children’s music & movement membership program called Tunes & Tales? Learn all about it here…
My grandson and I watched your videos this morning and thoroughly enjoyed the ones that correspond to books. You might want to take a look at the voice recognition software though, because some of the lyrics are way off and some not even appropriate.
Is there way to turn off the written word as it takes up a lot of the screen, at least on a phone?
Hi Nancy! I’m so happy to hear you and your grandson are enjoying my videos – especially the book songs!
And thanks for letting me know about the captions. Those are auto-generated by YouTube and can be turned off or on by each individual user. To turn off the closed captions, when you are watching the video, lightly touch the screen and you will see in the bottom right corner what looks like a rectangular speech bubble (or something like that – each device may show it a little differently?).
If you click on that speech bubble, options come up to either turn off the captions all together, or even switch to a different language. Once you choose that, save your settings and it should remove the text from the screen.
I believe that once you turn them off, they will be off for any videos you watch….. but I’m not 100% sure of that. The technology continually changes and I can barely keep up!! LOL!
Thanks so much for watching and commenting! keep in touch!
Nina
