LET’S READ, SING & MOVE ALONG – FROM HEAD TO TOE!

Ok, I’ve got one more for you!! As you know, picture books – especially Eric Carle’s –  have inspired many of my songs, and over the course of the last 14 months that I’ve taught my online story, craft, music and movement program Tunes & Tales – I’ve written even more! My class has been enjoying this one for some time now, and so I thought I’d make a basic recording and video of it for you all. It’s Eric Carle’s move-along book called:

FROM HEAD TO TOE!

The song itself, when I formally/professionally record it, should be called “I CAN DO IT” because that is the most repeated line and the chorus of the song (how great is that phrase??!!) But for now, for the sake of what you might search while looking for a video of this book, it’s still called From Head to Toe:

EARLY LEARNING CONCEPTS CHILDREN WILL GET FROM THIS VIDEO…

  • BODY PARTY IDENTIFICATION & GROSS MOTOR MOVEMENT: this book is all about identifying and moving body parts – starting with our head, and moving all the way down to our toes on the last page. And we get to work on moving each body party by itself!
  • ANIMAL IDENTIFICATION: Each page tells us about an animal, how and what they like to move, and then asks if we can do it. So not only do we get to work on identifying body parts and learning to move them, we get to work on identify animals, too!
  • EARLY LITERACY: Any engagement with a book is a pre-reading skill and works on literacy. Simply observing the ways the pages turn, what letters look like, and looking at symbols and pictures on a page and identifying them – this is all the beginning steps to reading. Getting to have a full body, fun, musical experience of a book will give children a positive association with books, reading and learning!

LIKE A CRAB – OCEAN SONGS FOR KIDS

I’m excited to share that one of my other songs/videos that was inspired by a book is featured this week on the blog Preschool Inspirations and their list of Ocean Songs for Kids:
My song Like a Crab was inspired by the book Don’t Worry Little Crab by Chris Haughton and is definitely a great, active song to complement your summer themed lesson plans!

And that’s it for now! Feel free to use these videos in your homes, classrooms and early childhood centers, and please share these videos with anyone who might find them useful!

Have a wonderful week!

XOXO
