Our theme for all classes this week is SILLINESS – inspired by the song that is our VIDEO OF THE WEEK:

ICKY STICKY BUBBLE GUM!

A whole song where icky sticky bubble gum gets stuck to different parts of our body and then we get to (try really really hard to) “pull them away!”

EARLY LEARNING CONCEPTS CHILDREN WILL GET FROM THIS VIDEO…

  • BODY PART IDENTIFICATION: For me this is a fun new body part identification song. If you’re looking to replace good ol’ Head, Shoulders, Knees & Toes for a little while, you’ll love this! And you can even have the kids decide on which part of the body for your hands to stick to each time.

  • PRETEND PLAY & HUMOR: From the beginning of this song, I say that we take out a pretend piece of gum, pretend to chew it and pretend to blow a bubble. This models for little ones HOW to make-believe, and HOW to use our imagination. ALSO, this song is just silly and fun. Kids LOVE the slapstick element when an adult or teacher “accidentally” bonks themselves on the head or falls down. And they LOVE silly faces. You can really take this song far in those ways and have those little ones laughing some much needed belly laughs!

  • AN ANYWHERE SONG: This is not so much a “learning concept” as it is a wonderful fact for teachers. This song can be done virtually on online classes or it can be done in person, with equal effectiveness. This song is so engaging, because of all the movements, and can keep attention because the kids are going to want to see where your hands get stuck next!  So feel free to make this song your own and use it in your classes!
