Since I started it back in 2012, it has been my mission to deliver active – INTERactive – screen time rather than passive screen time. And I believe strongly in talking directly to the camera, to the children, to make sure we’re working on the skills of relating – looking at faces and reading facial expressions, to help with social development.
With ALL of us with our faces in screens these days due to the circumstances we are in – little ones may be missing the true “face time” they need for social development. And of course, then there’s all the usual wonderful benefits of that singing and moving along does for little ones’ brain and body development.
But also – these videos give YOU a much needed break that you deserve. But don’t just take it from me. Here’s what Kristen wrote to me:
“Dear Miss Nina,
I’m a single mom of an adorable and sweet 2 year old boy. We stumbled on your videos through youtube and thank goodness we did. When I need time to do dishes, laundry, etc. all I have to do is ask if he wants to watch Miss Nina and he lights up! He will stay entertained in front of the TV dancing and singing while I get things done. He has such a great time and is learning so much from you. When I try to sing the songs he tell me “no mamma, Nina”. It feels like you are part of the family!
I just wanted to take a moment to let you know how much you have saved my sanity at times and how much my son adores you. “
So, yes – screen time you can truly feel good about! To check out this week’s video, click the photo above!
