HAPPY SPRING!
Ok, so, maybe things aren’t quite as green and colorful yet as they are in this photo – but they will be! Spring is officially here. Renewal. Hope. Growth. Change.
Piper went back to in-person school today.
First time in a year. And although I never want to live through a Global Pandemic ever again (and, it’s not over yet…), this does feel like a little bit of a caterpillar -> butterfly moment for her.
And this week’s video is ROLY POLY CATERPILLAR! So fitting!
ROLY POLY CATERPILLAR is a finger play, a gross motor and/or creative drama activity.

EARLY LEARNING CONCEPTS CHILDREN WILL GET FROM THIS VIDEO...
- SCIENCE: In this rhyme, we tell the story of the caterpillar metamorphosis: caterpillar, to spinning a chrysalis, to butterfly. It’s a great introduction for our littlest learners and we use our bodies to “act out” what happens – which helps us learn and retain information!
- FINE MOTOR SKILLS: You can do this rhyme as a finger play, while seated, to work on exercising the small muscles of our hands, wrists and moving our arms.
- GROSS MOTOR SKILLS:As I demonstrate in the video, you can also make this into a Gross Motor and/or Creative Drama Activity: standing up to “spin” the “blanket”, laying down to sleep, and then waking up and flying around the room like a butterfly!
