This week’s video picks up where last week’s left off (Preschool Circle Time Songs & Tips to Get Preschooler’s Attention), and it’s all about ROUTINE.
When I was teaching my own preschool classroom, I quickly learned that routines were the glue that held everything together. I had routines, and routines within the routines, for EVERYTHING – and each one needed the kid’s participation – which made it fun for them.
Routines help children feel safe because they know the order of things and what comes next. It gives them self-esteem as they master the routine themselves and demonstrate that in their participation. And, of course, routines helps them learn and develop in a myriad of ways!
I definitely believe that children need to experience the freedom of self-expression and choice – but it is most successful when they have that freedom within a structure. And that’s where routines come in!
So this week, I show you songs I used in my morning circle time routine – songs I used (and continue to use in concerts and online classes) how we move and sing-along to them:
