TIME FOR A COLOR LEARNING SONG!
So – often in February as I’m lesson planning for the month – and knowing that we’ve got at least a week (if not two) of a Valentine’s Day focus, I sometimes like to make the whole month about Colors.
For our youngest friends, identifying colors, learning their names and playing lots of games with matching is a whole lot of work for their brains – and believe it or not, a step toward reading! For for those kids, talking about colors and rainbows can certainly fill a month!
For older children who know their colors, I love to take this time to talk about how we can use colors to not only describe how something looks, but they can also describe and/or symbolize feelings – including our Valentine’s Day primary feeling: Love!
And from there is where and how I first came to write my song Colors Of You – where I use color idioms to express that I love ALL the colors of you!
So, today I have for you a good old color identification song called: RED & YELLOW, GREEN & BLUE
It’s sung to the tune of Twinkle Twinkle little start and in this video I use colors on the screen, pictures of objects, a rainbow ring prop and colored words on the screen to help children learn their colors!
So I’m going to post TWO videos on this page for you today. First the new video of RED & YELLOW, GREEN & BLUE and then my Colors of You music video, where you get to see Piper and making Valentine’s! So here is:
RED & YELLOW, GREEN & BLUE
AND now for some Valentine’s fun:
