WE’RE GOING DOWN ON OLD MACDONALD’S FARM TODAY!
So first of all: WOW!!! Last week’s A Turkey Is A Silly Bird video has been REALLY popular! Thank you for watching, sharing and using it. It’s a great one for Thanksgiving.
As I mentioned last week, I often struggled with Thanksgiving Lesson Plans when I was in the classroom. The concepts of Gratitude and Thankfulness were a little too much for my 18 month to 2.5 year olds – LOL! But spending nearly all of November talking about Turkeys was a little too much – know what I mean?
So often, I found that a Farm theme or even a Farm-to-table theme was great for this time of year. AND I realized that I hadn’t done a version of Old MacDonald on the video show since 2012!! So….

With the help of some cute, soft Melissa & Doug puppets I’ve got a new version for you. The little ones will enjoy seeing my friends, Cow, Horse, Pig and Sheep, making animal sounds and helping me to remember what letters we sing….E I E I P? S? What is it again? Lol!
EARLY LEARNING CONCEPTS CHILDREN WILL GET FROM THIS VIDEO…
- Like I mentioned above, at first they will help me with a little LETTER IDENTIFICATION. And all the words to the song will be on the screen to support learning.
- ANIMAL IDENTIFICATION! Learning the names of animals and what they look like is a foundational learning skill for our little ones. And it’s FUN!
- ANIMAL SOUNDS! Animal sounds – fun in and of themselves – are great for speech development. They exercise the mouth and tongue in a fun repetitive way and this helps with overall language development.
