THE MONSTERS STOMP AROUND THE HOUSE!

Don’t let the word “monster” in the title worry you. This is a simple, fun movement song that is totally un-scary. It is to the tune of The Ants Go Marching One-By-One can be adapted in any way you want. In today’s video, I have Piper joining me! I sing about the monsters stomping, wiggling, galloping, jumping, tip-toeing and dancing – and she does ALL the moves. So let’s have some preschool Halloween movement song fun!

BENEFITS OF USING THIS SONG WITH YOUR LITTLE ONES

• GROSS MOTOR MOVEMENT: So many ways to move-along to this song with Piper and I! At the very least it’s great exercise and a wonderful way to get the wiggles out! But more than that, the kids work on using those gross motor muscles. Through these activities the kids develop coordination, develop their muscles, learn to jump (a skill that has to be learned – and practice make perfect!), work on body control (especially the tip-toeing part) and so much more!
• CREATIVE EXPRESSION:  before moving along to this song – let each child decide what kind of monster they are going to be: what color? What size? Silly? Quiet? And let them have fun expressing their monster qualities through the movement of the song. **Enhance the fun by using movement scarves as “costumes”. Make them into hats, skits, tails, fur…..whatever you can think of to express your inner monster!
• HALLOWEEN THEMED FUN:  For your Halloween parties or festiviteis, adapt the song to fit the costumes the kids are wearing or the themes you’re working on. For instance “the Pumpkins roll around the room, hurrah! Hurrah!” Or “The super heroes fly around room…” etc.
