Hello there! Happy Tuesday to you!
Before we launch into today’s video and blog post I just want to tell those of you in the NYC/Brooklyn/Long Island area to be sure and come out to The Great South Bay Music Festival this Sunday, July 16th! I’ll be performing solo there, 4:40 to 5:10! But there’s plenty of great fun there all day (and on Saturday, too!). Here’s the whole line-up:
Jason Didner & the Jungle Gym Jam – 1:00pm – 1:45pm
Rolie Polie Guacamole – 2:15pm – 3:00pm
Lucy Kalantari & the Jazz Cats– 3:25pm – 4:10pm
Pirate Treasure Hunt – 4:10pm – 4:40pm
Miss Nina – 4:40pm – 5:10pm
Yvonne Dagger – 5:25pm – 6:10pm
Cheryl the One Women Circus– 12:00pm – 3:00pm
And if you can’t make it there – no worries – I’ve got a new video for you this week! Another animal song because – you just can’t have too many of those. Lol!
This one is a lot of fun – not only because we get to sing it over and over and do sill animal actions – but because we also take away the words while continuing to do the motions – similar to what we did in my old Swimming Swimming In The Swimming Pool video. Although on the surface this just seems like silly, good fun – this works on the musical skill of audiation: the ability to hear a melody in your head (and keep time) without making the actual sounds. It’s a definitely a skill that can be worked on and improved – and even if your not a musician, learning to do this is a great concentration exercise. And hey, at the very least it’s just fun! Check it out:
I’d love to hear how your kids respond to the video – whether they are YOUR kids or kids that you work with. Did they do all the motions? Understand that we stopped sining but were continuing the song? Or did they just enjoy doing the animal actions over and over? Let me know in the comments below! And of course, please share with anyone else in your life who has or works with young children who might enjoy this.
Enjoy your week and see you next Tuesday!
xoxo
