I’m back! My video-making sabbatical is over and I’m back with a new video for you today!
**But i just want to note, that since my life is changing a bit and I’ll be back to teaching full time, I will now be making videos monthly rather than weekly. But sill plenty new of fun to come!
So, as is that back-to-school-ish time of year, I thought it would be a good time to introduce this fun preschool goodbye song that I learned and used, way back, when I taught preschool!
It’s called Later Alligator:
As an end-of-day goodbye song, this one was so great. We’d sit in our circle on our rug, and when I’d see a child’s grown up arrive for the, we’d sing:
Josh see you later, Later alligator! After while, crocodile Bye for now.
It’s supers simple to learn, and the motions are really fun.
Over time, and as I mention in this video, I found other great ways to use it too!
It’s a great clean up song, and an exceptional transition song for toddlers – especially at home!
We know that transitions are hard for kids, but especially at home – or outside of school. Ending one activity and then moving onto another one, can be very hard – especially at the end of the day when the little ones are tired.
So taking a moment to just “say goodybe” to the things and/or people of that moment, before moving to the next can be powerful for them!
And I also show you how I have fun using this song in a Back-to-School unit!
I hope you find this preschool goodbye song as useful as I have!
Feel free to share with anyone you think might enjoy it!
XOXO
